Giveaway @ Saturated Canary!

If you haven't ever checked out The Saturated Canary, you are seriously missing out. She is one of the most inspired and talented people I have come across. This month she is giving away a mini Diana camera (& film!!) to one lucky person. Oh man, would I love to get my paws on that! :)  Do yourself a favor and head on over to check out her blog (& her awesome digital stamps!)... you won't be disappointed :)

Pinwheeeeeeel!

Im a kid at heart. I have a thing for pinwheels. I've been dying to make a pinwheel card and after finding some inspiration on pinterest, here is the result. I added some dimensional pop dots on the outer edges to make it look like it was really coming of the paper to spin around :) The pattern is from an "All Boy" Paper Pack. I tried to capture some of the super boyish words for the pinwheel to really capture the BOY aspect of this birthday card... this one shows "jump" but out of the four cards Megan and I made for this set, others included things like "crazy" & "dirt"... definitely things that describe MY little boy :)

Shellibrate!

This amazing set can be found at The Stamps of Life! Stephanie Barnard has the cutest design. They are so fun to use :) My crafty partner in crime Megan and I have been in a crafting frenzy. We have made so many cards lately--and out of everything--I'd have to say that this is one of my favorites :)

The paper is a miscellaneous pattern w/ glitter accents I had laying around, along with some coordinating solids. I used some green/white bakers twine and a button to finish things off... and of course some glitter for the shell ;)  What can I say... this girl loves sparkle! Stamp set is "turtles2love".

Purple

Purple is not one of my favorite colors. Its hard for me to craft with and I tend to avoid its use... so today I chose to step out of the box and focus on it. Purple was my theme. I made a cute anniversary card using a new Studio G floral stamp, triplicated it, and mounted on a shimmery textured purple cardstock. I love how it turned out, and I think that after today, I *might* dislike purple a little less :)

I (Heart) Kraft!

There is something awesome about kraft paper. I don't know what it is, but I just love that stuff! My new favorite is kraft from Paper Trey Ink!

I've been in a bit of a work induced crafting slump lately. Two projects and overtime tend to cut into the crafty-mojo :( Today I took some time for me (wow, such a foreign concept anymore! lol) and made a card with a bit of a vintage touch that can be used for either a wedding or anniversary... something lovey dovey given the quote on the front :)

Teapot Tuesday #197

I have lurked in the Teapot Tuesday forum at Split Coast Stampers for quite some time, but never participated before this last week! There is some serious talent involved with the planning of those challenges... and I love seeing what everyone creates from the stories and teapots posted for inspiration. This week's creation was to be a wedding card in red, white, and green... that included a cake for "extra cookies". I used a cuttlebug embossing folder for the red... a studio G wedding cake decorated with faux pearls.. and a "Mr & Mrs" sentiment from Raisin Boat's "Perfect Pears" set... a sheer green ribbon finished it off!

Less Is More: Yellow

I made this card for last week's Less Is More week 66 color challenge. It was a color challenge w/ the theme being yellow! Yellow is not usually my favorite color to work with. Before starting, I asked my almost 6 year old daughter what she thought of when she heard the word "yellow".... her response was so sweet! "Mommy, yellow makes me think of sunshine and happiness!" So naturally, with inspiration like that--- I went with sunshine :)

Life was crazy and I didn't a chance to post/upload before the challenge ended, but I still want to share!

Stamp & Sentiment: CTMH Splendid Day
Ink: SU More Mustard
Patterned Paper: Recollections
Other: Random vintage ivory lace

Feather Fiesta Days

Saturday was an amazingly fun (albeit HOT day) for us here. It was our small town's heritage celebration called "Feather Fiesta Days" that takes place every May. I had the pleasure of hanging out and spending the day at a craft fair for the locals with Megan (from Megan's Makings). Here is a peek at our home for the day. Her booth was awesome and it was so great to hear the positive feedback and how much the people out there really love handmade cards! This was my first craft fair experience and I really look forward to the next one!

A Quick Note---

The evil word verification is off... I could have sworn that was the first setting I changed, but I guess not!! Anyway, sorry about that... comment away!

OLW87--Think Outside the Box

Yesterday, I found a fun challenge for One Layer Wednesday that was totally outside of my normal crafting box. Its very rare for me to do something so simple.. and for this challenge it had to be a shaped card. Nothing square or rectangle was allowed. It also had to be a single layer (one piece of paper folded in half, or for this challenge due to the shape, two pieces glued together to make the card). My inspiration came from one of my favorite stamps made by Raisin Boat called "Undies in a Bunch".

And the finished product....

Introductions

Well, hello there ;)

My name is Laura and I love to craft. Seriously.. I LOVE IT. Whether I'm paper crafting, sewing, or crafting in the kitchen, its a part of who I am and what makes me, ME!

I first fell in love with scrapbooking about fifteen years ago, when I was in high school, and I've scrapped off and on since then-- but recently I fell in love with stamps! I'd always been super intimidated by stamping for some reason... but a few months ago my awesome friend.. who, to me, is a stamping Genius--gave me a formal introduction to the joys of stamps when she hosted a card making night. I was had. Hook. Line. Sinker. My  first major card making endeavor was participating in the Virtual Stamp Night that was held recently at Split Coast Stampers. (You can link from this blog to my gallery there and see what resulted from that!)

Ive been gradually building/expanding my crafting stockpile to include stamps...I am in love with this new direction! It is a nice change-up from the paper crafting and sewing projects that used to occupy my time. Making and designing cards is so addictive and fun... and I love being able to send some hand-made love in the mail to those who need it--and those who don't but, get it "just because" ;)

I've blogged for years as a way of keeping in touch with family and friends... but I can't believe I never started a craft blog before now!! I love sharing my creations... things that inspire me.. and this is the perfect outlet!

Let's get started!
